The north shore of Kauai offers the unsurpassed beauty of Hanalei Bay and the Napali Coast. Your guide for these tropical adventures has played and explored this unique slice of paradise for over 35 years. She will share with you the welcoming island spirit of aloha and show you the many sights and splendor the island of Kauai is renowned for.
Each week long retreat will take place in the resort community of Princeville, Kauai. We will be staying at "Melia Kai" a cottage situated on a bluff overlooking the Princeville Makai golf course with the cobalt blue Pacific Ocean and cascading waterfalls of Nomolokama looming in the distance.
These retreats will be centered around ocean activities. A native professional surf instructor will teach two 100 minute surfing lessons (beginners welcome and encouraged) in the gentle surf of Hanalei Bay. You will also have the opportunity to take a paddle board lesson up the Hanalei River where you will be surrounded by lush flora and views of the Hanalei Valley and surrounding mountains. Participants will be guided on several hikes and beach walks through dense vegetation, along sandy coral beaches, past cascading waterfalls with swimming holes and up to ridges with remarkable views of the north shore.
A typical day will begin with watching the sunrise on a bluff overlooking the ocean. A 60 minute session of gentle yoga (no previous experience needed) will be followed by a breakfast of tropical fruit, cereal and hot dishes. Afterwards, we will pack up and leave for the morning surf lesson, paddle board adventure or hike. The afternoons will be spent snorkeling, lazing at the beach, shopping or site seeing. The day will come to a close with a dramatic sunset over the ocean, dinner of fresh fish or barbequed delicacies, vegetables and local fare. Nights will be spent playing games, reading or sharing stories and star gazing on the deck. The small town of Hanalei offers a bit of night life for those who are up to it!

Nestled in the northeast corner of Oregon is a well kept secret called the Wallowa Valley. Rising from the valley floor are the breathtaking and majestic peaks of the Wallowa mountain range. Our retreats take place on the banks of the spectacular glacier carved Wallowa Lake located just a couple miles south of Joseph, Oregon.
We will be staying at The View, aptly named for the stunning vistas of Wallowa Lake. This mountain getaway offers plenty of room for relaxing and enjoying the great outdoors. It is not unusual to look out the window and see a deer or two grazing on the front lawn!
The focal point of these 4 day retreats is floating the Grande Ronde River in June and July with Winding Waters River Expeditions and horseback riding in the Eagle Cap Wilderness in August and early September. Along with these invigorating activities, participants will also have the opportunity to take a guided hike in the Eagle Cap Wilderness, relax and strengthen your body with daily gentle yoga sessions (no experience necessary), abundant water activities, exploring the many shops and art galleries in Joseph and just kicking back and reading a book or watching the sunset over the lake. Most retreats offer a unique and special celebration such as a summer solstice ceremony in June and an evening of wine and art with Whitney Ferre in July.
Leave the cooking to us as we will provide scrumptious and healthy meals to complement your active time at this mountain retreat. While we do the dishes, you are free to take a swim in the lake or sit outside and soak up the sun or enjoy the starry night.
So, gather your friends and family members or come by yourself and create a life memory you will never forget.

Maggie Conley, owner of Wahine Retreats, spent most of her childhood growing up in California as well as Kauai, Hawaii where her parents retired while she was in high school. Her passions as a young girl were horses and going to the beach. She attended a small college in the mountains of Colorado for two years where she studied outdoor education. After graduating from the University of Washington with degrees in drama and education, Maggie taught for a few years before going to work for a private recreation company as their Regional Recreation Director. This job had her traveling all over the country organizing and leading activities for families and seniors. The birth of her first child necessitated she stay closer to home so she focused on raising her family while teaching parenting and early childhood education at a local community college. Recently, she and her husband purchased property in the Wallowa Valley of Oregon and will be moving there full-time in the near future. Her love of nature and her zest for adventure has been a big part of Maggie's adult life. She spends her free time hiking, backpacking and for the past three years has immersed herself in the practice of Hatha yoga. Maggie is excited to offer women the opportunity to experience activities that encourages growth and self awareness.
Karen Calhoun, Wahine Retreats food consultant was born in Frankfurt, Germany but grew up in southern California. She graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a degree in art history. One of Karen's passions is traveling. She has been fortunate to have traveled throughout the world and where ever she goes she likes to take cooking classes to learn the secrets of different culture's cuisine. She enjoys hosting dinner parties where she shares with friends and family what she has learned on her latest trip. She and her husband own a very successful catering business in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada where they live and play in the Canadian Rockies. Karen and her family keep busy skiing in the winter time and hiking and sailing on their J boat in the summer. She practices yoga and participates in a master swim program. Karen looks forward to helping to provide delectable and nutritious meals that will support and strengthen your bodies during your time with us.

Learning to surf with Maggie and Keo was so much fun!!! Keo is such a mellow, easy-going surf instructor, ideal for beginners. For me, this retreat had all the right combinations... adventure, comfortable accommodations, and connection with nature, yoga and lots of laughter. It was an Aloha Adventure I will treasure for a long time. Mahalo ~Kathy Kane
What a fun trip; floating the Grande Ronde in a kayak, hiking in the Eagle Cap Wilderness, laughing and relaxing with friends. Can't wait to come back to the Wallowa Valley with my sisters and mom...thanks for a great time! ~Connie Alderete
